if i had a dime for every time i’ve been asked how i feel about being a political wife… well, i’d buy a string of pearls and get my hair done. like laura bush.
yes, it is certainly a new experience for me, being the wife of a would-be politician. it’s usually been me in the spotlight throughout my marriage to grant: i’ve been the one on tv, the one whose name and face were plastered on billboards across the country, the one travelling for work and leaving him the single dad to run our busy household with three little boys.
now it’s his turn—and i couldn’t be happier for him.
but there’s no denying the challenge of my role in this adventure, not least of which is that moniker: political wife. it sounds so plastic, saccharine, thankless.
so i’ve decided to embrace it—and reinvent the term— by writing this blog, chronicling the ups and downs of my family’s first step into federal politics. i’m a writer, it’s how i process what’s happening in my world. and there’s a hellluva lot happening in my world right now.
so for all the news of grant gordon’s campaign that’s fit to print (and maybe a titch that’s not), tune in to “the political wife”. the stories behind the story of having your husband throw his hat into the ring for the bucking bronco ride of a political campaign.
